Madam, - Bishop Pat Buckley (October 6th) goes to some length to outline what he sees is wrong with the Catholic Church today, and offers a 10-point strategy for reform.
On the same page Kevin Myers, in his wickedly funny (but deadly serious) piece about the beatification of a mass murderer, Emperor Karl of Austria, by Pope John Paul last weekend, points to perhaps another reason why the Church has seriously lost credibility in recent decades.
The two pieces should be read together by any serious student of the problem. - Yours, etc.,
