May we refer to the article "Victims of abuse meet bishops in Maynooth" by Patsy McGarry, Religious Affairs Correspondent in the Irish Times dated 8th October 2009?

After reading the aforementioned article one is reminded of John Kelly of Irish Soca who wrote to Eamon Gilmore, T.D, Leader of the Labour Party on the 8th July 2009 in relation to the Institutional Child Abuse Bill 2009.

John Kelly wrote the following: "The Labour Party has Irish Soca permission to inform the Dáil or other parties of interest that Irish Soca has requested The Labour Party to defer this Bill until the outcome of the audit is known and government is better placed to make judgement on the way forward".

It seems that John Kelly got out of hand a bit in respect of the Labour Bill in the Dail and stymied its chances.

We do not believe that John Kelly, of Irish Soca will receive a positive response from Eamon Gilmore, T.D, Leader of the Labour Party.

John Kelly, of Irish Soca, Michael O' Brien of the Right to Peace group, Tom Hayes of the Alliance group, Christy Heaphy of the Cork - based Right of Place and Christine Buckley, Bernadettee Fahy and Carmel McDonnell Byrne of the Aislinn group should try to adjust to reality, they are trying to make headway before they are fully prepared, they have inadvertently created an area of vulnerability at their meetings with the bishops in Maynooth and in Dublin on the 7th October 2009.

The aforementioned groups overlook their failure to understand that they should concentrate their energy and resources on behalf of victims of institutional child abuse in supporting the Institutional Child Abuse Bill 2009.

Albert King on behalf of Mary King. (victim of institutional child abuse).
