Child Abuse Commission

Child Abuse Commission
written by Kathy Ferguson, August 22, 2007

After writing many letters and phone calls, about this Child Abuse Commission and getting the same answers over and over again. I have come to the conclusion that Judge Ryan is not accountable to anyone.
This comission has sexually discriminated against women. You have left 37 girls Industrial schools out of your equation. NO PUBLIC HEARINGS.. It beggars the question why?
The questions that have not been asked, and can not get asked if you do not call the Nuns Religious Orders into account are.
1. How many girls from the Industrial Schools were sent on to the Magdalen Laundries, and those that have spent all of their Lives in Magdalen Laundries.
2. How many girls were sent into mental instutitions.
3. How many girls died in the industrials schools, and where are the death certificates, and who signed all of of the above questions

4. Why have not all the Religious Orders that signed the Indementy Deal not had a public hearing?
I can only reach one conclusion that the girls industrial schools were added to make this commission look good.
The people that put their names down for the investigation part of this commission, have had a raw deal, as after all, the people that went to the confidential part of the commission had their evidence recorded on tape.

I took up your offer of putting my name down for the investigation Childabuse Commission in 2000.
What I got on the 19 September 2005 was an interview, with two Senior Counsels, where nothing was written down or recorded . (What a sham)

I should have realized earlier, that nothing would come of the child abuse commission, just like the vaccine trials.

18, Religious Orders signed up for the Indemnity deal. Yet only 6 Religious Orders have given evidence at the Ryan commission.
If the Order is not called to give evidence at the commission, then your Industrial school will not be investigated, remember that only 4 girls Industrial Schools, have given evidence.

What are you going to do about my criminal convictions? Which had consigned me to the industrial school, in Ennis.

As the child abuse commission stated that 400 had been to the Investion Commission, out of the 1900 that had put their names down, I would like to know the following questions.

(1) The number of complainants who attended a full hearing at the Commission's investigation committee (IC).
(2) The number of IC complainants who were given an "interview" by the Commission.
(3) The number of IC interviewees who were given a full hearing subsequent to their interviews.
(4) The number of complainants who participated in Professor Alan Carr's survey.

Artane report
written by Seamus McKenna, August 22, 2007

An excerpt from the Artane report.

"The Praesidium informs me that in the past five years 80% of these boys have emigrated. It is my experience that many of these boys whom I know personally have lapsed entirely from the Faith. In Dublin I find these boys in dead-end jobs without any opportunity of advancing themselves. For some, the working conditions, especially in the country, are primitive; others are exploited for less than a living wage. Emigration in their case is a blessing."

The whole thing is one deeply depressing read. As an aside, the author of the report does nothing for his case by his fawning to the Archbishop and his rejection of the help given by a Protestant layman.

Iriah ways and Irish laws?
written by Duc in!, August 26, 2007

Isn't it time we questioned our own guilt in voting in the thugs who allowed this abomination to go on and later who colluded in the coverup.

Woods showed his loyualty by allowing the religion off the hook of financial accountability and now we, the aboused myst pay for our abuse.

Needless Commission
written by Kieran OSullivan, August 28, 2007

I do not understand the legal reason for the commission. If there was a serious attempt to get at the truth about this issue why not release all the documentation in relation to it. I know that some documentation might name individuals and in such cases they would have a right to defend their reputation however there is a lot of documentation like the above mentioned report which could be released without infringing on anyone's rights.

The comment that secrecy is Irelands disease is certainly true however it could be expanded to say that secrecy is the churches disease.
