Recent reports about Bishop Donal Murray reveal something of the intense personal pressure being felt by the bishop in the wake of events surrounding the tragic death of Peter McCloskey.

This pressure is no doubt exacerbated by the call for his resignation during the press conference hosted by Colm O'Gorman director of One In Four in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

As at least one commentator has pointed out, the late Peter McCloskey's book 'The Irish Virus' laid bare a more complex set of personal circumstances than those revealed in recent reporting and places a question mark over the way the bishop's willingness to shoulder responsibility and to care for those most closely affected by Peter's death is presented.
