Students questioned about arson

Two students have been interviewed by garda? in connection with arson attacks on a secondary school in Dingle, Co Kerry, over the past six weeks. A file has been sent to the DPP.
The 130-year-old monastery part of Dingle CBS, an all-boys secondary school, had been burned on New Year's Day. The fire destroyed administration offices and canteen facilities, causing an estimated ?250,000 damage. Last weekend, the replacement principal's office in a Portakabin was set on fire and the principal's personal library and files, along with some school records, were destroyed.
Sgt Mossie O'Donnell, of Dingle, said yesterday two of the school's students had been interviewed. He was grateful for the co-operation of parents in the school. Apart from those absent through illness, all students at the 260 student school had been finger-printed. The parents' co-operation was "crucial" to the investigation, he said.
