Alliance Press Release

Added on January 19, 2005

19 January 2005

The Alliance Committee welcomes the process by which the Investigation Committee will carry out its tasks. It has the clear advantage of allowing everyone who wishes to take part to do so while at the same time the Commission will benefit from selecting those who can be of further benefit to attend the more adversarial hearings before the Investigation Committee.

It can be seen by the numbers mentioned that the process is clearly the best way forward and does not prevent anyone from attending. We are glad also to note that the numbers spoken of by the various Victim Support Groups at the Distillery Buildings and elsewhere have not materialised and that there is now more realism when discussing figures before the Commission and the Redress Board.

The Committee wish the Investigation Committee well in all that it does to bring to conclusion that which our members have always wished for, namely, a report in our lifetime that will allow for reconciliation and closure once the report has been published.
