McFadden claims ignored

Added on November 28, 2004

THE Christian Brothers have decided against taking action to counter the pop star Bryan McFadden?s claims that he was physically abused by members of the order when he was a pupil.
A spokesman said the Brothers were not going to dispute the former Westlife singer?s allegations as they had already been refuted by the school he attended and by former classmates.

?It has emerged that there were just three brothers teaching in the school when McFadden attended, and that a number of his classmates have no recollection of being treated like he claims in the song,? he said.

Two of the three brothers who taught at McFadden?s school, St David?s in Artane, Dublin, have since died. The remaining brother does not plan legal action.

In his latest single, Irish Son, McFadden refers to being beaten at school by Christian Brothers.
