Alliance Expresses Support for All Victims
Added on December 12, 2003 The Alliance Victim Support Group believes that every person is entitled to his or her good name. However, evidence has come to our attention of inaccuracies and, in some instances, false statements that have been presented against some members of the religious orders.Where an injustice has been visited on individual members of religious congregations, the Alliance calls on all persons accused of misdemeanours they did not commit to take what action they deem necessary to expose these injustices.
Since the foundation of the Irish state, successive governments have failed in their duties to nurture a respect and dignity for children brought up in state institutions. This failure has resulted in many shattered childhoods. As a result, many of us are broken adults too.
In the knowledge that we cannot change our pasts, the Alliance Support Group aims to support and promote with integrity a dignified closure on this tragic episode in the lives of survivors of institutional abuse.
The Alliance welcomes all adults who have lived part or all of their childhood in one ore more of the state's residential institutions.
